Inpatient amenities

At York Hospital, we know that a peaceful environment helps promote rest and healing, which is why you’ll enjoy a private room during your inpatient stay.

York Hospital’s Dining and Nutrition team provides delicious and nutritious meals that are prepared fresh in-house to aid in your recovery. Our room service program even allows you to order your meals whenever you want. You will receive a menu upon arrival. If you are on a special diet prescribed by your doctor, we’ll provide a menu tailored to your specific needs.

To request your meal, simply call extension 3663 (FOOD), and someone will take your order. If you have difficulty making menu selections, a member of the dietary staff will be happy to help you.

TV sets are provided for each patient. To reduce noise for other patients, we recommend using headphones (available free of charge), and TVs must be turned off by 11:30 p.m.

Each patient is provided a telephone by their bedside. Family and friends may call you at any time by dialing (207) 363-4321 or toll-free (877) 363-4321. To place a call, dial “9” to get an outside line. Once you hear the dial tone, dial the phone number. (Remember to use the area code.) There’s no charge for long-distance calls.

Note: Cell phones may be used in the hospital, though usage may be restricted in some areas. We ask you to be respectful around anyone trying to sleep.

Surgical patients may enjoy complimentary pre-op and post-op Reiki treatment. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing of mind, body, and spirit. Services are provided through our Wellness program.

To make your stay as comfortable as possible, we offer a free room service program. You can request daily newspaper delivery, watch DVD movies, play games, listen to music, read a book, chat with a volunteer, enjoy a Reiki session, or shop in our gift shop/apothecary. For more information, call extension 2221 from any in-house phone or call (207) 363-4321. We also offer interpreter services for those with difficulty relaying messages or understanding staff members.
